Handset Test Engineering Manager

  Handset Test Engineering Manager We are currently seeking a Handset Test Engineering Manager with significant testing and validation experience in cell phones or other consumer electronics. This position will report to the Director of Handset Program Management and will require working closely with multiple organizations, key teams and Subject Matter Experts (SME) to ensure that all testing has been coordinated and is tracked daily to completion in a timely manner.

Major responsibilities:
? Coordinate with the handset team, handset vendors and business units to ensure that all handsets scheduled for release into production have been thoroughly tested and are free from defects.
? Work with handset team to meet project milestones and obtain approval on deliverables.
? Manage day-to-day tasks and schedules the work of the testing activities.
? Participate in the design phase of handset projects for the purpose of understanding the business requirements, establishing a test plan and identifying resource requirements.
? Manage test engineering activities to include the development and execution of test procedures required for handset load and functional analysis.
? Develop and execute automated test scripts, manage test environments, test applications and performance capabilities. Ensure that the development of automated test scripts are designed to test the functionality, performance and quality of products.
? Responsible for the continual improvement of the testing process and serve as the point of contact on all testing issues.
? Provide status reports and communicate quality metrics to project team and leadership on a periodic schedule.

Qualifications:
? Bachelors Degree from an accredited college or university in Engineering, Computer Science, or related field.
? 5-7 years of testing/technical/engineering experience in a Wireless Telecom company or Wireless OEM.
? Strong technical background.
? Must be familiar with CDMA, 1xRTT, EV-DO voice and its data standards and data networking with TCP/IP.
? Requires principal knowledge and/or working experience with technical disciplines such as Java/J2ME, SMS, MMS, LBS, WAP browser, Device Management, security for wireless devices, Audio and Video standards for mobiles, and supplementary wireless connectivity (Bluetooth, WiFi, IR).
? Experience writing technical requirements, test plans, test scripts and test cases.
? Must be familiar with handset certification process.
? Excellent communications skills (written and verbal).
? Excellent analytical skills. Intense focus on details and execution excellence, with outstanding organization, project management, and process engineering skills.
? Experience in issue resolution and risk mitigation strategies.
? Understanding of the software development lifecycle.
? Driven by results - not afraid to jump in and pick up the slack to ensure that a project stays on track.
