IP Video Engineer

Job Responsibilities Responsibilities: This position is responsible for the design, deployment and operational support of Digital and simulcast video network equipment, IP Encoders/Muxes/Decoders, Digital Simulcast systems, VOD systems, ADS/UET infrastructure, Ad Splicing applications etc.

Major Duties:
- This position assists with the Planning, Development, and Implementation of all types digital and simulcast analog video systems and the relevant network infrastructure.
- Candidate must be able to work and coordinate with 3rd party vendors such as Motorola, SeaChange and Cisco.
- Assist with Operating digital and simulcast video systems within the area and provide training and support.
- Respond to system outages by performing troubleshooting and diagnostics of Digital/Analog Systems and associated equipment by collaborating with Headend technicians, third party vendors, Tech Ops, or visiting sites as necessary.
- After hours support and pager accessibility is expected. On-Call duty required.
- Responsible for retrieving video and network performance data, report compilation and analysis generation. Weekends, nights and variable shift work may be required.
- Provide technical training to junior engineers and other ops groups on current and future technology.
- Some travel required.
- Other duties may be assigned.
- Punctual, regular, and consistent attendance.

 

Minimum Requirements

Education and Certification:

-Associate degree in computer related fields.
-NCTI, SCTE, Microsoft or CISCO certification is preferred
-The equivalent in work experience (4 years) and self study may be substituted. 

Experience:
-At least 2 years of related IP video experience.
-Hands on experience with Concurrent, SeaChange, Motorola and/or Scientific Atlanta video digital video product lines is preferred.
-Solid understanding of MPEG2 and MPEG4, LAN/WAN, TCP/IP networks, IP Multicast, routers and switches is required.
-Computer hardware experience is a plus.
-Good oral and written communications skills.
-Ability to work overtime, as needed.
