Installation & Maintenance Technician (I&M Tech)

JOB SUMMARY:

The I&M Tech will be responsible for a geographic area and perform the installation and maintenance of all services provide by PrimeVision from the Tap to the Customer Premise Equipment.  The individual must have good presence and portray a positive, courteous, and professional image.  Prior experience is a must and individual has to be able to work in a fast paced environment, be a self starter, and with desire to learn and grow. 

 

ESSENTIAL DUTIES AND RESPONSIBILITIES
Key responsibilities include, but are not limited to:

? Installs, connects, troubleshoots, and de-install drop cable from the tap to the NID.

? Installs, connects, and troubleshoots NID device.

? Inspects, troubleshoots, and repairs inside wire and structured wiring for voice, video, data and alarm.

? Performs service activation for analog video, High Speed internet, Wireless router, alarm system, and VoIP.  Service activation may consist of software installation and computer configuration.

? Must be able to troubleshoot, repair, and restore all services from the Tap to the CPE.

? Must have knowledge and experience with the installation and troubleshooting of cable modems, outlets, converters, alarm systems and other equipment associated with our services.

? Validate proper service function and performance through TV setup, TV reception, internet speed tests, and test equipment.

? Thoroughly and effectively explains use of all services to customers.

? Must be able to explain and sell service upgrade options.

? Reviews, completes, and processes work orders along with submission of all relevant service contract paper work and payments made by customer.

? Properly maintains vehicle, tools and equipment.

? Ability to process information accurately, take direction and provide direction to others.

? Maintain logs, prepare reports, and provide accurate and timely documentation.

 

EDUCATION and/or EXPERIENCE

High school degree and minimum 3 years experience in a similar I&M tech function.  Trade training and vocational courses in basic electronics, CATV or related field is a plus.

 

SKILLS
Competencies include:

? Computer literate with MS word, excel, outlook, internet, system configuration.

? Knowledge of cable system

? Ideal candidate will have knowledge of phone installation, alarm installation, custom wiring and home theater wiring.

? Proficient in use of CATV test equipment and hand tools

? Lift and carry up to 75 pounds.

? Must be able to climb ladder and perform work in attic space.

? Good verbal and written communication skills and good conversation skillsMust have valid driver lisence.
