Local Transport Control Center Tech III
The Network Control Technician will provide network management support on multiple Verizon Business transmission networks. Network management responsibilities include but are not limited to: proactive network monitoring, following established procedures when responding to network alarms and events, performing fault isolation on customer reported optical circuits, providing technical assistance, trouble ticket and flash management, processing MASTARS events and performing escalations. Work with external and internal Verizon organizations coordinating and troubleshooting network events. This position involves shift work in a 24 X 7 environment including on-call via pager, weekend and holiday coverage. Job schedule may require shift rotation and candidate must be available to work any shift.
Job Requirements/REquired Skills
Associate degree or equivalent experience.
Good communication skills and computer skills required. Practical installation or maintenance experience required with fiber optic transmission technologies such as Lucent, Cisco, Nortel, Alcatel, Fujitsu and/or Movaz. Strong customer service and interpersonal skills are required along with excellent written and verbal communication skills. Practical experience with MCI internal systems, such as Espresso, ETMS, OASIS, MASTARS, F&E, Netpro, MECCA, TCOMS, is also preferred. A basic knowledge of Ethernet, Gigabit Ethernet and Optical Wavelength technologies preferred as well.
