Position Summary
The CBS Engineering Manager will work with the Director of Sales, CBS Field Services Manager, Manager of Network Engineering and Director of Network Engineering to implement the CBS operations and engineering strategies and goals within the Greater Louisiana system. The CBS Engineering Manager will also work with the Network Planning Manager, Maintenance Manager, Backbone Management Team and the Construction Manager to ensure the Engineers maintain quality standards. The CBS Engineering Manager will directly manage a Team of CBS Sales Engineers to develop their skills and abilities. The CBS Engineering Manager will be responsible for maintaining service levels for High End Commercial Customers in Lafayette and Baton Rouge. The CBS Engineering Manager will be responsible for managing the scheduling, testing, provisioning, troubleshooting and repair of all high end Commercial Services in Greater Louisiana. The CBS Engineering Manager will be responsible for selecting and Tracking all CBS (CPE) Customer Premise Equipment Purchases, Managing All CBS Vendor Relationships, and assisting CBS VP with preparations of CBS Budgeting for CBS CPE and Head End Equipment.

Primary Responsibilities/Tasks

Identifies and applies best practices or benchmarks of excellence for CBS Engineering Team.
Develops and Maintains relationships with Director of Network Engineering, Manager of Network Engineering, CBS Manager of Field Operations, CBS Sales Director, COX Backbone Engineering Team, Construction Managers, CBS Customer Care Manager and CBS Financial Analysts.
Represents CBS Operations and Engineering interests at local and corporate meetings and planning sessions.
Ensures processes are implemented and followed as defined by CBS Corporate and local Network Engineering.
Resolves CBS Operations and Engineering Escalations as Necessary.
Ensures Compliance with service level agreements with CBS customers and with internal Core Departments.
Monitors Service Level Agreement compliance by shared residential organizations and escalates to Commercial Vice President.
Leads and motivates a team of CBS Sales Engineers, ensuring they maintain quality standards
Ensures Engineers meet corporate operations and engineering goals.
Meets with the Director Network Operations & Engineering periodically to discuss system results and plan for future CBS Growth demands.
Ensures that the Engineers are providing the necessary assistance to CBS Sales Team and CBS Customers.
Acts as a liason between Engineers and other departments to resolve escalated CBS engineering issues
Supports Engineers with subject matter expertise on processes, procedures, systems, and customer contact matters
Ensures that direct reports understand and comply with company policy and procedure
Demonstrates support for excellent customer service
Provides coaching and feedback to direct reports
Maintains effective utilization, performance, and career development of direct reports
Remains current on technical information regarding engineering through completion of required/recommended training program
Responsible for recommending training and ensuring direct reports maintain required skill sets
Works with local Human Resource coordinator and Cox Business Services of Atlanta to ensure the recruiting needs of direct reports are met
Maintains a commitment to safe practices and holds others equally accountable

Qualifications:
Required Knowledge, Skills, Abilities
Bachelors degree or equivalent experience
5+ years experience in Transmission, Data, and Switch Engineering demonstrating progressive leadership positions
Knowledge of Nortel hardware (DMS-500 Digital Switch) preferred
Knowledge of SONET networks preferred
Knowledge of Nortel transport (OC-12, OC-48, OC-3) preferred
Knowledge of Tekelac Eagle STP preferred
Experience with Ethernet, Token Ring, FDDI and ATM equipment as well as DS-1 and DS-3 preferred
Knowledge of LAN/WAN, ATM, SNMP via UDP/IP and router technology preferred
Must be able to coach and mentor direct reports
Must have proven track record of leading a team and achieving objectives and quotas
Strong technical aptitude
Project management skills
Knowledge of communications industry; experience in industry preferred
