NETWORK SPECIALIST

The Network Specialist monitors, maintains and restores the operational status of Broadwing’s Network circuits, SS7/STP, and hardware in the DMS switches. The position serves as the primary coordinator for resolving network issues and communicating status with various internal organizations. 

Job DutiesMonitor network alarm application; acknowledge and investigate alarms and generate tickets as needed.Isolate and resolve network outage/impairment conditions as identified by the network alarming application.  Engage various internal/external organizations in the process of resolving such issues.  Document activities in existing ticket application.Track NOFA activity, including approving NOFA’s and opening events for maintenance on the network. Also track and perform production network upgrades/changes/modifications.Provide technical assistance to the EMC team.

Education and Experience Requirements

Two years of College or Technical School resulting in an Associate’s Degree or equivalent and 1-5 years circuit provisioning and network operations experience  is required.  Must have thorough knowledge of PC and Windows applications, Nortel DMS 250 or 500 switch, and basic knowledge of SS7.
