NOC Technician (Network Emphasis)

The LightEdge NOC troubleshoots repairs and maintains the LightEdge Solutions backbone and production networks. 

 Required

? Associate?s Degree, Certifications, or equivalent experience in Information Technology

? OSI layer1/layer 2/layer 3 troubleshooting skills are necessary

? Knowledge of WAN/LAN layout and design

? Ability to explain IP Sub-netting

? Understanding of Network Security (PIX firewalls, ACL configurations)

? Thorough experience with Cisco IOS

? Experience working with configurations of a variety of Routers, Ethernet Switches, WAN

? Documented history of customer service experience and/or customer service skills training

? Excellent verbal and written communication skills

? Self-sufficient with analytical skills requiring little supervision

? Flexibility ? must be willing to work nights and/or weekends for at least three months

 

Preferred Skills, Not required

? UNIX (BSD, Solaris, Linux) experience

? Hands-on experience cabling, auditing and maintaining a large data center

? Experience in Change Control and Incident Management

? Network Management Systems ? SNMP, TL1

 

Responsibilities



? Beginning to end support for all client services post-install

? Maintaining Lightedge Solutions Quality Operational Standards in Change Control, Troubleshooting, Documentation and Customer Service

? Fostering teamwork amongst members of the NOC for through timely resolution of even the toughest of issues

? Monitor customer and Network alarms for proactive resolution

? Operational Audits and Projects

? Working with LECs or vendors during network implementation and troubleshooting

? On-site customer service calls

? Follow pre-described escalation policies to ensure quick resolution and customer satisfaction

? Management of equipment changes or modifications

?  Other duties as assigned by management
