Network Engineer

Twenty First Century Communications is seeking a Network Engineer for an opportunity in Columbus, Ohio.  Experience with Cisco routers, switches, firewalls, wireless, and Unix/Linux/Windows operating systems is highly preferable. 

 

 

Successful applicants will have experience in the following areas:

 

Provide network administration as a member of the Network Services team

- Network Administration of Cisco and Unix/Linux/Windows equipment

- Other networking equipment administration as necessary

- Shell/Perl scripting experience would be helpful

 

Networking and other prior desirable job experience

  - Minimum of 3 years hands-on experience in engineering, administering, installing, or

  working on or with TCP/IP networks is required

- Some Cisco experience is required

- Working knowledge of configuration and maintenance of routers, switches, etc.

- Network/Application configuration and troubleshooting highly desired

  - Experience with the suite of TCP/IP protocols is desirable

(SSH, DNS, LDAP, NTP, UUCP, SMTP, POP3, VPN, etc.)

  - Experience with TCP/IP dynamic routing protocols a definite plus

  - Firewall/access list and network security experience highly desired

  - Experience with Data Communications circuits (T1, ATM, Frame Relay) is desirable

  - Network sniffer/packet tracing experience would be helpful

  - Telephony (TDM/PRI) experience (especially VoIP/SIP/QoS) would be a definite plus

  - Wiring, crimping, punch down panel experience would also be helpful

  - Microsoft Visio and Office Suite experience highly desirable

 

Interpersonal skills

  - Must have excellent communication skills, both oral and written

  - Should be able to function efficiently in a team setting and as an individual

  - Excellent customer service skills are required

  - Must represent Network Services on cross-functional product/project teams

 

 

Some travel may be required.  Some after hours activity may be required as we run a 24x7x365 operation.  This is a salaried position with no overtime pay.
