Network Technician

POSITION PURPOSE: 

 

1. Ensure both customer and network circuit paths are identified, traced out and documented for company migration projects.

2. Ensure customer and network circuits are built and seamlessly transitioned for the company projects.

 

MAJOR RESPONSIBILITIES:

 

1. Identify, monitor, trace out and document customer and network circuit paths down to the DS-0 level.

2. Provide complete, error free, documentation for a minimum of 56 DS-1?s per week.

3. Make physical and logical cross-connects (DS-3, DS-1 & DS-0).

4. Perform circuit (DS-3, DS-1 & DS-0) hot cuts as required.

5. Provide first level support related to circuit trouble isolations.

6. Support and fix any data integrity issues as they pertain to the Granite-Xpercom database. 

 

MINIMUM QUALIFICATIONS: 

 

1. Minimum 3 years of experience in telecommunications.

2. Proficiency in the installation, testing and provisioning of DS0, DS1 and DS3 circuits.

3. Must demonstrate an ability to think creatively, act decisively and work independently.

4. Must have excellent communication skills and a working knowledge of various software applications.

 

SPECIAL SKILLS/EQUIPMENT: 

 

1. Must have at least 3 years of experience working in an RBOC and/or CLEC?s network facility and provisioning database.

2. Must have a working knowledge of installing and maintaining circuits connected to a Nortel DMS, Lucent 5E and DEX Switching platform.  Additionally must know how to install and provision circuits through a Tellabs 5500, 5320 digital cross connect systems and Adtran TA 4303 concentrator.

3. Must be able to use a T-Berd 224, 2209 and Sage test equipment for testing and troubleshooting of DS0, DS1 and DS3 circuits.

4. Must be proficient in Microsoft Office?  Excel, Word, PowerPoint, etc?.
