Oracle Database Administrator

Responsibilities: • Provide day-to-day operations support for mission-critical production databases.
? Provide on-call support on a 7x24 basis.
? Create and execute detailed instructions to support operation and maintenance of systems.
? Work in a strategic role interacting with different functional groups like Engineering and development.
? Troubleshoot and resolve system failures: find root cause, and then design/implement root fix.
? Install and configure software; design systems from component parts.
? Create and define database structures.
? Manage mass storage.
? Manage multiple priorities or projects.
? Mentor others and act in a lead role to design and teach technical topics.
? Provide and perform database performance tuning guidelines.
? Develop and implement new strategies for database management.
? Utilize standard DBMS monitoring software, including BMC Patrol and related scripts.
? Work within company change-management processes to implement new changes to existing systems.
? Work with DBMS vendors to obtain technical support and escalate problems as necessary.
? Contribute to development of departmental documentation, relating to standards and operating policies.
? Must be successful in a team environment.



QUALIFICATIONS

Requirements:
? Experience working as an Oracle DBA in Operations, resolving operations problems with mission-critical application platforms on UNIX is required.
? 5+ Yrs of Experience administering Oracle databases on the UNIX operating system platform required.
? Experience with Oracle 8i, Oracle 9i, 10G required.
? Oracle DBA certification required.
? Experience with Oracle Database Replication Server is required.
? A solid understanding of the SUN Solaris and HP-UX operating system environment is required. Also good working knowledge of Microsoft NT and Windows 2000 platform is highly desirable.
? A thorough knowledge of scripting languages like ?ksh?, ?Perl?, ?SQL? and ?PL/SQL? required.
? Experience with RMAN, NetBackup, and EMC?s BCV Backup platform is required.
? Excellent interpersonal skills.
? Excellent verbal and written communication skills.
? Experience with Sybase or MS SQL Server database platforms is highly desirable.
