Principle Satellite Engineer

Summary:  Working directly for the V.P. SATCOM Services, the Principle Satellite Engineer is the primary resource for systems engineering for SATCOM products and services for Arrowhead Global Solutions (AGS).  The purpose of the position is to perform requirements analysis, systems engineering, vendor evaluations, assist with proposal development, and develop technical solutions.  Must be able to perform link budget analysis and to give high quality technical advice to the various groups within Arrowhead.  Expertise and technical knowledge of commercial Satellite systems and Bandwidth applications, ground segment, VSAT technology, industry trends, major network operators and vendors is required.  Must have extensive government contacts.

 

Competency:  To perform this job successfully, an individual should demonstrate the following abilities of competency:

 Maintains a broad knowledge of state-of-the-art technology and systems to effectively recommend changes, updates, and redesign of facilities. Ability to install, maintain, operate, and help trouble shoot with associated satellite systems. Familiarity with data protocols, access devices and transport mechanism. Demonstrated experience, leadership, and success in identifying new products and services and performing systems analyses to develop innovative technical solutions.  Expert knowledge of fixed, broadcast, low-earth-orbit, and mobile satellite systems, space segment characteristics and coverage of different satellite systems, small and large earth terminals, VSAT technology, industry trends, major satellite operators, network operators, and satellite communications vendors.Effective speaking, writing and proposal preparation skills required.

 

Qualifications:

 

Past experience in systems engineering for a technology services or telecommunications company with proven success in meeting/exceeding design and development schedules.

 

Education and/or Experience:

 

BS in Electrical Engineering with emphasis on telecommunications, Space Systems Engineering or Communications.  Advanced degree preferred.  Minimum of 10 years experience in satellite systems engineering.  Hands on experience on link analyses, and ground system implementation.  Experience with the Government projects and processes, including both the civilian and military sectors of the Federal Government.

 

Clearance Required:  Must be able to obtain a Secret clearance.
