Project Engineer
Primary Responsibilities:
Performs engineering design and development work for projects as assigned and performs complex engineering support activities related to RF product lines (power amplifiers, repeaters, filters etc). Provides technical support to project management for highly complex technical projects to ensure adherence to target performance, cost and schedules. Interact with daily RF, Systems, Mechanical, Project and Test Engineers on a daily basis.Executes engineering product development and project engineering activities. Manages technical project teams with overall responsibility for technical performance, cost and schedules, interfaces with customers, internal departments and outside vendors as needed.Directs, coordinates, and exercise functional authority for planning, organizing, integration, and completion of engineering project within assigned responsibility.Coordinates activities concerned with technical developments, scheduling, and resolving engineering design and test problems.Ensures design documentation is complete in accordance with requirements of the engineering development process (EDP) to a professional engineering standard.Maintains Engineering notebooks documenting all general technical activities. Provides direct line manager and project manager with weekly activity summary (activities and issues) and records on PW time, weekly hours per project.Maintains knowledge of current technical advancements in the general field of RF/Digital electronics, commensurate with the Project Engineer level by keeping up with the current developments and trends in the area of expertise.Drives the transition of new products into manufacturing.Supports specification reviews.Provides functional guidance on project of personal responsibility.Reviews product design for compliance with engineering principles, company standards, customer contract requirements, and related specifications. Performs technology trade off analyses (i.e. Architectures).
Requirements:
Bachelor degree in engineering (electrical, mechanical) and 5-8 years of related experience.Successful launch of at least one product into manufacturing. Advanced knowledge of electronic, electrical and mechanical design.Strong knowledge of mechanical concepts pertaining to RF power circuits.Advanced knowledge of RF techniques and/or signals and systems communications theory.Advanced knowledge of lab skills (non-software engineering candidates).Strong programming skills.Advanced understanding of RF measurements and methodologies for air interfaces such as TDMA, GSM, CDMA, and AMPS.Ability to interpret and critique system analysis documents, to organize and lead cross-functional teams and interface with internal/external customers and vendors effectively.Strong knowledge of FMF, DFC, DFT, SPC, and CPI principles.Strong knowledge of technical project management.Ability to make presentations to design teams and customers that are professional and positively influence customers and project teams.Ability to support specification reviews.Ability to generate source control documents (SCD).Strong verbal and written communication skills that clearly convey information and ideas. Ability to communicate in such a way to influence peers and management, as well as communicate well cross-functionally in a professional manner. Communication capabilities are strong enough to help drive change.Proficient with Microsoft Word, Excel, Project, PowerPoint and Visio software programs. Able to produce professional Engineering reports including introductions, conclusions and recommendations (test summary reports, ATP, TP, test fixtures, etc.).Ability to analyze and resolve technical problems of a complex nature quickly and independently.Advanced knowledge of project management methodologies (EDP), tools and software such as Agile, ROI and IDE Web.
