RF Engineer – Cellular Provider (3 Openings in the Northeast – 6 months plus)

Our client is looking for 3 RF Engineers working for a cellular carrier to provide resources for network planning, network design, system optimization and in-building project management. The current positions are located in NJ (New Jersey) and NY (New York). 

 

The RF Engineer must have experience with system designs and performing system optimization activities for various cellular technologies including CDMA, GSM, iDEN and TDMA.  Engineer must be able to work independently and on-site at customer locations. Engineers must also be able to interface directly with the client on a daily basis to discuss project activities. The engineer must have a valid US driver?s license.  The candidate will need to have excellent verbal communication skills, strong inter-personal skills, and good written skills.

 

Job Responsibilities:

 Create search areas, perform site candidate evaluation. Perform site surveys to identify RF equipment location and antenna orientation.  Support leasing/zoningteams as subject matter expert at zoning hearing. Verify RF related site engineering drawings.  Understand equipment co-location requirements for multiple operators. Design and test In-building Fiber DAS design and implementation. Perform inter-modulation analysis.  Conduct CW tests on proposed candidates if necessary. Work with Site Development on difficult search rings to identify candidates that would suit RF needs. Analyzes drive test results, identify correction factors, update propagation model from the drive test information. Update databases and modeling tool with new

information for candidates. Test and evaluates wireless system and equipment to achieve optimal performance.  Link budget analysis, design criteria and traffic analysis.  Improvement network performance and optimization practices. Perform parameter audits and offer suggestion to fine tune the network. Implement new parameters for overall network improvement. Work with Regulatory on Spectrum Issues, plan long term frequency planning. Perform co-channel and adjacent channel interference testing and analysis.

 



Skills:

 

Knowledge of RF hardware including: antennas, coax, transmitter receivers is desirable. Knowledge of Windows applications (Excel, Access and Word) Strong data analysis abilities using windows applications.

 

Proficient with applying propagation models. Knowledge of propagation tools such as Wizard, Planet, Odyssey, etc., data post processing tools such as Actix, TEMS, LCC and MAPINFO is a must.
