Regional Applications Engineer

Applications Engineers are responsible for providing technical solutions to Catapult's telecommunication industry customers through on-site equipment installation and training, problem resolution and technical support. The work involves scripting and delivering product demonstrations to both existing and potential new accounts. Applications Engineers perform installations, provide technical product training, technical post-installation support, and they identify potential sales opportunities. Applications Engineers are also in a position to identify potential sales opportunities through the course of their work. Essential Job Functions:
? Provide pre-Sales product demonstrations involving complex protocols and state machines
? Present product training and provide post sales support to Catapult Communications customers
? Work with customers to implement solutions and maximize the value of their investments
? Work with the sales organization to identify sales opportunities through new customer contacts, opportunities, or application of Catapult products
? Assist Catapult Communications? customers to develop applications on applicable products
? Problem and Enhancement report submission and follow-up
? Ability to work independently and in a team environment Education or Equivalent Experience:
? BSCS/BSCE degree or equivalent and working experience in product applications
? Experience with telecom protocols implemented on applicable products
? 3-5 years experience with major OEM manufacturers desirable
? Minimum two year?s of C programming experience
? Detailed application experience with Catapult products desirable
? Teaching experience desirable Skills Required:
? Understanding of some telecommunication protocols
? Basic C Programming knowledge
? Basic UNIX skills
? Ability to train others
? Demonstrates initiative
? Excellent verbal, written, and interpersonal skills
? Use of sophisticated test systems including MGTS and/or DCT
? Excellent problem solving skills and initiative to solve complex telecom protocol issues
? Demonstrates ability to learn complex telephony protocols
? Good interpersonal skills to work well with customers
? Willingness to travel up to 30% Communications:
? Interact with customers, regional applications engineers and other engineering staff
? Conduct presentations of technical information concerning specific projects/schedules, etc.
