Senior Manager / Architect

Technical and administrative leadership of a multi-site development team that is responsible for delivering applications used to bid and deploy network designs for Ciena?s transport products. These applications determine optimal placement of filters, amplifiers, DCM and attenuators for a given user defined network topology and set of service demands.  These tools also generate Bill-of-Material, installation drawings and documentation.

 

Individual must possess strong interpersonal and communication skills with the ability to relate with multi-disciplinary teams.  Individual will work with Product Line Managers to determine feature content, Systems Engineers to determine algorithm design, Software Engineers to provide implementation and Sales Engineers to provide tool support and gather enhancement requests.  Individual will scope, plan and provide full project oversight to a geographically and technically diverse team. 

 

ESSENTIAL DUTIES AND RESPONSIBILITIES

? Product Requirements Development and Negotiation

? Feature content and scope.

? Planning of incremental capabilities.

? Optical Design and System Modeling

? Provide clarifications to development team.

? Work as liaison between Systems Engineering and Product Line Management.

? Lead Software Development and Test Teams

? Ensure software designs meet requirements.

? Test plans are complete.

? Serve as a SW architect to ensure architecture is scalable, maintainable and reusable

? Technical team leader and mentor.

? Building an effective team

? Project estimation, task assignment, status reporting and tracking.

SKILLS

? Knowledge of Optical Properties Associated with Building or Fielding DWDM Networks

? Optical Telecommunications Equipment Background

? Prior experience in planning tools development, either as software architect or system engineer.

? Familarity with optical network architecture, physical and logical layers, protection schemes and mesh topologies.

EDUCATION / EXPERIENCE

? College Graduate w/ MSEE or MSCS degree

? 5+ Years of Relevant Management Experience

? 10+ Years Software Product Development or Optical Network Design Experience
