Senior Network Engineer

DataPoint delivers innovative IP and telecommunications services and is headquartered in Baltimore, MD.  DataPoint has an immediate need for a Senior Network Engineer to support the company?s expanding Ethernet and Datacenter customer base.  The Senior Network Engineer will contribute to multiple projects in network and systems design, network standardization, systems documentation, transition planning for legacy networks and day-to-day operational issues. The successful candidate will use their knowledge of standards-based internal and external routing protocols and systems administration skills to serve customers in high-availability environments.

Primary responsibilities:

 Provides consultation and expert technical assistance for the repair and maintenance of the network, the associated communications hardware and related servers and systems.Configure, test and implement various customer and network hardware solutions.Interface with customers to isolate and resolve technical issues.Collaborate with the Sales organization to develop cost-effective solutions to meet and serve customer needs.Maintain accurate documentation as it relates to the current network configuration.Work with various suppliers to research and test new products.

 

Qualifications:Minimum of 4 years experience with Cisco routers, firewalls, switches, IPsec, PPTP, VTP/VLANs, Ethernet, Fiber Optics, OSPF, MPLS and BGP.  Experience with installing, administering and managing medium-scale Linux and Windows Server 2003 installations a plus.Proven customer relationship skills.Vendor management experience.Experience with management and coordination of projects involving highly available systems.Strong interpersonal and communication skills with the ability to interpret complex topics.Independent problem solver and self-starter as well as ability to work as part of a larger team.Effective troubleshooting and problem resolution skills.
