Senior Network Engineer - NIT

Develop, implement, and support AIN and enhanced services over current network and next generation network.  Develop, implement, and support IP network architecture and services provided on our voice and data networks.  Research, engineer, and implement network solutions.

This Upper Level network engineering position will design, test, and implement network solutions for any projects that run on the network. Also, introducing new products or services that are to run on the network.  Responsible for Technical evaluation and implementation of Next Generation Architectures that includes requirements generation and test plan creation, execution, and documentation.

 

I. ESSENTIAL JOB FUNCTIONS

 

  A.  Research and Design SS7, AIN, and Intelligent Peripheral solutions

 

1. Develop Methods of Procedures and feature functionality specifications for any new products being introduced.

 

2. Develop and maintain SS7 and Intelligent Peripheral evolution plans

 

3. Design and implement new services utilizing the AIN/Intelligent Peripheral network

 

4. Research, analyze, and design solutions utilizing new technologies and solutions.  Soft switch (Santera desired), TDM, converging networks, equipment integration, SIP and VOIP

 

5. Document and provide upper level support for SS7 and AIN network

 

  B.  ATM, Optical, Data network

 

1. Design and implement additions to current network

 

2. Develop network architecture that will support new and current products

 

3. Technical evaluation and implementations of Next Generation Architectures

 

4. Provide upper level technical support for network

 

5. Develop testing procedures for inter-operability testing across technologies and network elements

 

6.  Develop applications and reports to monitor network performance.

 

C.  Tandem Switch translations

 

1.  Develop complex switch translations

 

2. Research, Design solutions using tandem voice switch

 

3. Develop routing practices

 

II. SKILLS/JOB KNOWLEDGE

 

 

A.  Skills

 

1.  5 year minimum of related experience in network engineering or related field.

2.  Must have a progressive, team-oriented approach to problem solving and continuous improvement.

3.  Strong research and design skills.

4.  Excellent communication skills.

5. Ability to work independently and manage multiple priorities.

6. Experience with Unix, Solaris, and various operating systems.

7. Experience with Cisco IOS

8. Experience in Wide Area Networks

9. Experience with large Dial Access Networks

10.  Experience with RADIUS platfrom

11.  Experience with Class 4 switching environment and AIN triggers

12.  Experience with SS7 network elements: ISUP, TCAP, LNP, ISDN PRI (NI2, ATT, ETSI), PBX SSP, STP, SCP, Trunk provisioning and routing.

13.  Knowledge of TCP/IP, VOIP, H.323, MGCP, ISDN, MEGACO/H.248, SIP

14.  Troubleshoot SS7 network issues

15.  Troubleshoot call completion and routing failures

16.  Strong analytical skills diagnose technical problems, and to evaluate new software to enhance site functioning or productivity

17.  Demonstrated knowledge of voice network signaling and operation

18.  Demonstrated knowledge of Wide Area and Local area network operation

19.  Project management and organizational skills

20.  Able to complete projects without supervision

21.  Provide upper level technical support for both voice and data network elements

22.  Knowledge of Class5 and Class 4 features including new SCP architectures

23.  Experience with network and protocol analyzers utilized to monitor and test network elements

24.  Experience with developing and implementing AIN and Enhanced services over Tandem network and VOXX network

25.  Knowledge and experience in Unix and/or Sun Solaris environments.

 

 

 

B.  Education and Certification

 

1. 4-year degree and/or equivalent education and experience.

2. CCIP and/or CCIE, CCDA, CCNA, CCNP Certifications.

3. Vendor Certifications are encouraged, but not a must
