Position Summary

Successful candidate will join the rapidly growing Polatis team in delivering products which will change the face of optical communications in a variety of industriesPrimary responsibility will be to work within an interdisciplinary team on the optical design, implementation, and testing of new DWDM based fiber optic switches.

Reports To: VP Research and Development

 

Salary:  Salary will be commensurate with experience & competitive with local market

Principal Duties:

? Develop novel product architectures with focus on optical performance in a wide range of environmental conditions.

? Optical system layout, optical component specifications, and analysis.

? Work with other team members to specify mechanical design for the system.

? Develop alignment and calibration procedures to be used by production team.

? Perform design validation testing on prototypes and production units.

? Testing and preparation of product for customer demonstrations & exhibitions.

? Training of production team to carry out optical assembly and alignment of the system.

 

Candidate Profile:

? Graduate level degree in engineering or physics with 3+ years of experience.

? Proven track record in carrying out optical research and design projects.

? Experience in the use of commercial optical design software packages and modeling tools such as ZEMAX.

? Experience with raytracing, Gaussian beam analysis, and collimation optics.

? Experience with tolerance analysis and athermalization of highly sensitive optical instruments.

? Knowledge of optical industry capabilities and the ability to design optical products for ease of manufacture.

? Excellent troubleshooting skills.

? Basic familiarity with LabVIEW, MATLAB, and/or C programming advantageous.

? Good verbal and written communication skills a must.

? Flexible & adaptable, as part of a small high-caliber team.

? Able to train and supervise others.

? Ability to work unsupervised and as part of a team.
