Open Position Title:  Senior Staff Engineer -- DSP

Job Description:

 

Education Requirements:  BSEE.  Digital Signal Processing coursework/training also required as a prerequisite.

 

Experience Requirements: 7+ years working experience with real-time embedded DSP programming.  Low-level programming experience with cache-based DSP architectures desired.

 

Job Summary:

Develop, integrate and test embedded DSP software for GSM cellular telephones

Implement optimized DSP code using C, C++, and assembly code for multimedia codecs, audio, video processing.

Design and implement new DSP RTOS, CM/build tools, and automated test and simulation environments

 

Skills desired: DSP assembly language (Ceva/Teak, Philips/Adelante), test equipment scripting and automation, troubleshooting real-time-embedded software, multimedia standards, audio processing, commercial RTOS tools, cache analysis, C/C++ programming, MATLAB programming, DSP algorithm design and analysis.

 

Travel Requirement: Yes:  The applicant must be willing and able to travel internationally, including off-site software integration and field testing.  Occasionally, international trips may require stays of several weeks.

 

Start Date:  August 1, 2005

Work Location: RTP

Job Duties (i.e. % of person?s responsibilities in testing, development, design, etc.): 60% testing/troubleshooting embedded DSP software (includes developing test software),  20% documentation, 20% design and analysis

COMMENTS: The candidate will apply experience and skills to test, develop, and troubleshoot DSP assembly code and compiled C software on custom hardware platforms with embedded DSP cores, using JTAG emulation.  Methodical engineering approaches and administrative discipline in troubleshooting, coding, and software verification will be required.  The ability to quickly learn new development tools and modify/reverse-engineer existing software will be critical for this position.
