This position reports to the CEO.
Duties:
Lead the engineering function by providing technical and functional leadership for all engineering initiatives within the organization. Accomplish corporate business objectives by building, enthusing and empowering a world-class team.
This is an extremely hands-on technical position. Candidates are expected to be top-notch technologists in their area of excellence, which should include Digital TV/Video delivery, MPEG transport over IP, Set Top Boxes, OCAP, Conditional Access, Digital Rights Management (DRM), System Architecture, Embedded System Design, Linux, IPTV, Telco-TV, CATV, Switched Digital Broadcast, Video on Demand (VOD), etc.
?Lead the design, development and delivery of Technologies for delivery of video content over IP, including Digital Video delivery, MPEG-2/MPEG-4/AVC, Javascripts for set top boxes, middleware.
? Implement Manpower Planning to ensure all programs and pursuits are adequately staffed to meet program requirements and customer needs.
? Achieves financial objectives by forecasting functional requirements; preparing an annual budget; scheduling expenditures; analyzing variances; initiating corrective actions; analyzing and recommending information and trends for decision making.
? Build infrastructure to include processes, tools, people and partners.
? Work with Business Development, Marketing and Sales teams to identify needs and develop technology to meet requirements for future pursuits.
? Establish functional objectives aligned with corporate mission; initiating, coordinating, and enforcing new strategic initiatives; enhancing organization's stability and reputation; measuring, ensuring profit and service driven outcomes.
? Serve customers by establishing critical service factors; maintaining quality service and operations; analyzing, defining, developing, and providing systems and resources; assessing results; anticipating trends.
? Share professional and technical knowledge by presenting cutting-edge concepts at professional society symposia; implementing state-of-the-art practices; publishing trend-setting concepts in professional publications and conferences.
Skills/Qualifications:
? Ideal candidate will have demonstrated strong Technical Leadership in Video delivery in Telco or CATV systems, Internet technologies, IP routing, Gigabit Ethernet, Distributed Computing, Peer-to-peer, Digital Rights Management, Conditional Access, MPEG-2/MPEG-4,, set-top-box architectures, GUI design, etc.
? Must have a strong technical knowledge of C/C++/Python/Java.
? Must have System Architecture experience ? understanding what it takes to build an entire system end-to-end and guiding offshore software and hardware teams.
?Results Driven, Emphasizing Excellence ? Technical and Business, Professionalism, Financial Planning and Strategy, Business Knowledge, Vision, Quality Management, Strategic Planning, Market Knowledge.
? Must have impeccable written and oral communications skills.
? Must have demonstrated ability to successfully lead and manage a large staff utilizing strong decision making, delegation and team development skills.
? Must have demonstrated ability to support major Engineering initiatives.
? Must have demonstrated ability to build and sustain critical business and customer relationships.
? Must be able to effectively interface and work with all levels of employees, management and all functions within and outside of the company.
Experience: 10 plus years of experience, with emphasis on a strong technical and functional management experience.
Educational Requirements: BSEE or BSCS; MSEE, MSCS or MS Preferred.
