Sr. Project Manager - McLean, VA

Position Summary:

This is an exempt position that manages large complex function(s) and provides direct supervision to all groups involved in the implementation of fiber projects.

Responsible for the planning and implementation of programs and projects that adhere to approved plans, budgets and schedules. Provides specialized technical and administrative expertise.

Coordinates and facilitates with internal and external resources to effect the timely completion of projects. Coordinates closely with customer representatives to ensure all customer needs are met.

Is directly responsible for selection, training and performance evaluation of employees. Coaches his/her work force in order to project manage in a rapidly changing technological environment.

The primary purpose, product and/or service of the unit(s) managed may involve highly technical activities or programs; or policies, procedures, controls and services required to support the sound financial, operational and competitive position of the company.

Responsibililties:

?Superior knowledge in the Design and Implementation of commercial and carrier dark fiber networks, infrastructure, backbone and lateral builds; ?Maintaining projects and tracking schedules and budgets through the establishment of project controls and standards in addition to strategic planning; ?Manage resources (human and equipment) assigned to project in efficient, effective manner; ?Conduct project design reviews and updates, identify nonconformance when it occurs and participate in finding solutions to nonconformance issues; ?Direct interface with customer, subcontractors and interoffice personnel; ?Equipment and material procurement related to the assigned projects; ?PC and Interpersonal communication skills required; ?Strategic planning, establishment of program controls and standards

Requirements:

Problem Solving and decision-making:
In-depth understanding of network design, implementation.
Proficient knowledge of the Bid Process, inclusive of budgetary requirements and the tracking thereof.
High level of independent thinking throughout the planning, scheduling and facilitating of projects start to finish.
Requirements:
A Bachelors degree or equivalent experience.
Technical understanding of the components of the telecommunications network and a demonstrated ability to quickly assimilate technical data, methods and procedures.
Must be able to perform effectively in an unstructured environment. Must communicate effectively, possess strong organizing, planning and interpersonal skills to lead and motivate diverse groups performing multiple assignments in a rapidly changing technological environment.
Must be team player, open, communicative, cooperative, team-oriented individual with a commitment to excellence and the highest standards of ethics of professionalism, possessing a self confident, "can-do" attitude and determination.
Possess extensive telecom experience.
Proven history of taking strong initiatives.


Able to work on several projects / tasks simultaneously.
