Technical Writer

Job Description:



SUMMARY OF POSITION: 

This person will be responsible for updating and developing support documentation and architecture diagrams for web-based, enterprise-wide e-commerce applications.

POSITION RESPONSIBILITIES:



? Develop technical documentation for use by development and support teams for web applications

? Interview subject matter experts, and users at various levels in the company, including analysts, programmers, developers, applications support specialists, and project managers to gather information for development of the documentation.

? Develop Operations Support Guides for Support Team members to use to familiarize and troubleshoot with e-commerce web applications and e-commerce environment. A template for Support Guides will be provided.

? Update architecture diagrams where necessary.

? Work closely with the developers and support staff to obtain and validate information, and to coordinate reviews of the documentation.

? Interactive position working closely with the support team manager, team members, developers, and technical operations staff.

 

QUALIFICATIONS:



? 3 years technical writing or technical documentation experience

? Experience using Microsoft Word to create technical documentation

? Experience using Visio to create network diagrams desired. Some Visio experience required.

? Understanding of e-commerce (payment, online sales) applications

? Familiarity with call center operations (CTI knowledge NOT necessary)

? Familiarity with enterprise application and server installation instructions

? Familiarity with enterprise-wide systems

? Experience interviewing subject matter experts for technical data

? Good organization - will be responsible for extracting information from existing documents

? Fast turn-around / quick revisions

? Good phone and in-person interview skills

? Self-starter, high initiative, self-motivated



Additional Information:  Incentive bonus for completion of first two Support Guides in a two day period. Source content obtainable from documents and interviews, template provided. Develop 8 guides by end of September.
