Telecommunications Central Office Field Engineer

Job Description:

? Candidate will perform various field engineering tasks primarily within the Central Office environment strictly in accordance with BSP and TP76400 standards and Zone 4 requirements.

? Candidate must have experience in designing and engineering ironwork systems, auxiliary framing, earthquake bracing, cable racking, fiber racking, raised floor, AC and lighting, grounding, frame and equipment placement, cabling, and network and office design and layout. Candidate will be expected to perform all tasks with extreme attention to detail, the utmost quality and at a fast pace.

? Candidate will also be expected to utilize drafting skills in developing floor plans and other related plans (fiber, cable, grounding, etc.) of both new and existing central offices using recent versions of AutoCAD.

? Candidate will be traveling on an average of 3 to 4 days a week to sites within the Northeast Region with occasional travel in other area of the country including California. Trips as long a 1 week is also possible depending on the customer requirements. Travel arrangements are usually made in advance but candidate must be flexible to manage adjustments to schedules and travel changes on short notice. Candidate must have a reliable means of transportation to sites within the area and to the airports.

? Candidate will interface heavily with customers on a regular basis in understanding their design and engineering requirements while providing recommendations and any support necessary to satisfy the customer?s needs and demands. Engineer will also interface with other engineers and installation technicians by providing documentation and technical support throughout the entire duration of the projects. Candidate must have good written and verbal communication skills.

? Engineer will also utilize custom engineering applications in developing, maintaining and accessing office records. Candidate must have strong computer skills with emphasis on MS Outlook, Excel, Word and other basic office applications. Candidate must also have the ability to handle various tools and electronics such as laptops, digital cameras and video cameras.
