TELECOMMUNICATIONS ENGINEER I

 

The Telecommunications Engineer I coordinates the selection and installation of telephone facilities and special equipment for VEGAS.com and other Greenspun Companies.

 

ESSENTIAL JOB FUNCTIONS:  

 

?  Analyzes telecommunication functions of the organization and makes recommendations.

?  Develops, improves, maintains and implements telecommunication systems.

?  Designs new call center routing and queue technology as required.

?  Troubleshoot and resolve telecommunication issues including converged voice and fax messaging.

?  Update and implement system and network architectures to meet functional requirements.

?  Function as an off hours point of contact in case of unplanned events.

?  Inspects install locations to ascertain space available for installation of equipment.

?  Specifies cable types, number of pairs, types of modular jacks, cross connects, hubs, intermediate distribution frames, and equipment racks.

?  Creates diagrams and records designating and referencing all cables with their respective locations.

?  Performs equipment repairs.

 

The ideal candidate will have the following experience and qualifications:

 

?  Bachelor's degree from four-year college or university in Computer Science or Electrical Engineering or equivalent work experience.

?  Minimum two years prior job related experience.

?  Prior experience with VOIP and PBX systems.

?  Prior call center experience preferred.

?  To perform this job successfully, an individual should have an understanding or be familiar with the following systems and software:

?  IP networking

?  Unix (Sun, Linux)

?  All Microsoft operating systems and configurations.

?  Nortel Certification and MCSE Certification
