Brief Summary of Position:

Ensure the continued operation and satisfactory performance of all network equipment affecting business operations that reside in the Central Office and Collocation sites. Performs all diagnostic testing, documentation, maintenance and isolation of network faults associated with transport and power equipment. Performs local monitoring of NFM system to detect network malfunctions.

 

General Responsibilities/Duties include but are not limited to the following:

 

? Documents/Communicates all routine maintenance duties as required.

? Accountable to address trouble tickets and clearing alarms in a timely manner.

? Proactively monitors NFM to detect network failures and takes appropriate action.

? Utilizes Remedy to accurately record all trouble ticket and alarm activity.

? Performs preventive maintenance on Central Office transmission and power-related equipment.

? Performs MOP?s relating to routine diagnostics, growth, and upgrade activity.

? Troubleshoots equipment failures and technically supports resolution activity.

? Updates maintenance spare equipment inventory records as outlined by Maintenance Engineering.

? Reviews and monitors all system performance reports, scheduling necessary actions to avoid system degradation and customer service interruptions.

? Perform special tasks as assigned by the immediate supervisor or as dictated by business need.

 

Preferred Educational Background: 

 

Preferred Years and Type of Experience:

Minimum 5 years experience in Telecommunications Network Operations and Maintenance. Working knowledge of the following: telephony and transport and power network architecture, computer systems and PC applications, wire wrap and cable dressing, transmission testing, with a strong technical and mechanical ability. A solid understanding of the Telcordia GR1275 document is desired. Effective oral and written communications, problem solving, and troubleshooting skills.

 

Other Skills Required for the Position (including Computer Skills): 

? Valid driver?s license.

? Maintain excellent attendance record.

? Must be a team oriented individual and also be able to work independently with minimal supervision.

? Ability to work night shifts as required.

? Means to travel between TPAC sites required.

? Must be able to lift a minimum of 40 pounds.
