You would be responsible for the end to end maintenance and operation of the Video Services network within the SHE (super headend) and VHO (video hub office) facilities including interpreting and correlating Video Services outages and degradation to video layer and video equipment failures, performing fault isolation and trouble resolution for Verizon's Video Network, interfacing with internal customers and vendors to ensure timely resolution of network impacting troubles. Responsibilities include creating and interpreting electrical schematics, and installing, rearranging, and removing equipment and associated wiring within the Video Network.Ensure stability and quality of video serviceIsolate and Troubleshoot Video Service Network (VOD, IPG, DAC, CSG interfaces)Proactive management and diagnosis of video service degradationInterpret, correlate, and isolate alarm/soft conditions Interpret video and audio quality, and IPG/EPG data integrityInventory ManagementAssist and/or perform new design and change implementations Check Health of Network: TMX (multiplexer); SE (analog do digital endcoding); PESA (switch for fail over); Oscelot (Switch)Check bandwidth dropouts in TMXRestore/Maintain Back-up PathsDetermine if outage is Provider or Network relatedInterface with third party service vendors (i.e., Miranda, Content Providers, Motorola, Seachange, TVN, Microsoft, FYI, CSG, etc.)

Required Skills and Experience:Minimum Associate technical degree or 5 years related work experienceMinimum 2 years of experience with analog/digital video, audio and mutli-channel experience or expertise in Layer 1, 2 and 3 of OSI stack.Minimum 2  years related cable, satellite, and telephony industries knowledgeDemonstrated ability to troubleshoot and resolve IP network troubles in the physical, data link, and network layersExposure to some of the following tools or industry equivalent: Miranda iControl, baseband video router and IP router control, SEMS, TMX, VOD Servers, and IPG ServersExperience with Network Management Systems (NMS), Element Management Systems (EMS) and/or Operational Support Systems (OSS)Understanding of communication networking components (i.e., routers, LAN topology, Ethernet, SONET, etc.)Ability/willingness to do shift work on a 24x7x365 basis including holidays and weekends

Desired Skills and Experience: Ability to self-motivate and work independentlyTeam player with ability to communicate across functional organizations Exercises judgment within broadly defined practices and policies in selecting methods and techniques for obtaining solutions1 year experience as a hardware engineer in a multi-channel environmentExposure to interactive TV/VOD or media industryFamiliarity with ingest stations, ad-insertion and editing Knowledge of Telecomm network installation, provisioning, maintenance and Central Office processes and proceduresSoftware administration, software implementation, software configurationMinimum 5 years experience administering multiple, web-based applicationsMinimum 5 years experience working with Device Configurators
