College Degree or equivalent work related experience is required.
Proven experience and skill with Operating Systems: Solaris, UNIX, Linux, and Windows.
Proven experience and skill with DNS, Mail Servers, Web Servers, VERITAS Backup software, VERITAS Volume Manager, File System and clustering.
Proven experience and skill installing and maintaining an Oracle Database, Disk Suite, VOICE technology, TCP/IP routing and access control.
Experience working with telephony technologies (SS7, DS1-DS3, OCN, etc.) and with voice test equipment/test sets.
Experience with the Cisco BTS Softswitch, Datamart, Logica CMG voicemail.
Experience with Primal Billing System

Essential Functions
Interact with Support staff to resolve issues.
Respond to maintenance and trouble tickets
Perform more advanced isolation, troubleshooting, and network recovery
Engage Tier 2 level 3 Technicians or Tier 3 Engineers as required for additional support
Perform daily checks, proactive monitoring, and alarm verifications on all voice components including:
Trunks
Trunk groups
SS7 Links
Feature server
Voice mail server
MGX
Voice firewall
Routers (DPOM provisioning)
Netscreens
SBC
All circuits
All voice equipment
Any known issues
Perform capacity planning
Perform upgrades
Perform migrations
Perform billing back-up
Configuration back-up
DPOM connectivity support
Documentation & detailed reports
Project support
Perform preventative maintenance routines
Monitor and Respond to all e-mails.
Maintain problem ownership and accountability.
Standard operating procedures- as determined
Attend training as provided and demonstrate proficiency maintaining the following:
Voice over cable general concepts
BTS
Feature server
Voice mail complex
Advanced circuit activation and troubleshooting concepts
MGX
SBC
Netscreen
Router (DPOM provisioning)
Voice firewall
Dial plan editing
Basic Dial plan creation

 Purpose

 

The purpose of this Network Operations Center (NOC) position is to provide Support of all Residential VOICE-over-IP services including any ancillary system.

Role

This position is responsible for the installation, maintenance, and repair of various equipment making up the voice complex. Duties include responding to tickets, performing circuit test & turn up, performing standard operating procedures, and providing support to level 1 technicians as required. This position is a member of the NOC Voice Tier 2 team and directly reports to the NOC Voice Supervisor & NOC Voice Manager.
