Design Director, Window and Multi Purpose Fabrics

The Robert Allen Group seeks a Design Director to play a key role in the development of product, including design and color selection, from conceptualization through manufacturing and final product distribution stages.

 

The qualified candidate will have Bachelor?s Degree and five to ten years of vendor transaction experience through mills and product design experience including fabric construction and process, color, sales and merchandising network experience.  Must possess strong business, organizational, communication and product presentation skills as well as the ability to travel.  Strong oral and written communication skills, the ability work well under pressure and in a team environment and in collaboration with other departments is also required.

 

 Job Responsibilities will include the following:

 

?  Develops product, including design and color selection, from conceptualization through manufacturing and final product distribution stages.

?  Purchases documents, commission artwork and commission color revision work on existing artwork.  Purchases existing product from weavers, printers. 

?  Designs displays and sampling units and determines rotation of product in showrooms, roadlines and sample books.

?  Provides historical and inspirational information regarding all products to external market.

?  Sets wholesale prices for assigned product.

?  Selects methods of product sampling.

?  Provides supervision to staff by developing goals and objectives for their professional growth.  Monitors individual staff members progress and re-evaluates objectives as needed. 

?  Evaluates performance of staff and provides feedback on a regular basis.  Utilizes the performance management program to encourage and positively reinforce staff.

?  Interviews and selects staff as requested.

?  Travels approximately 15% of the time to appropriate mills, shows, and industry events.
