Textile Engineer

 

Gentex Corporation, an internationally recognized leader in the design and manufacture of sophisticated life support systems, has an immediate opening for a Textile Engineer. 

 

The successful candidate may possess a B.S. in Textile Engineering or other textile related degree.  Also note that undergrad candidates with substantial experience in the Textile Industry will be evaluated.  A minimum of three years technical experience is desired.

 

The Process Engineer/Textile Engineer will:

 

? Fabricate hand samples of textiles for R&D and IR&D projects

? Work with production to develop means to transition R&D prospects to production readiness.

? Accomplish action items and tasks associated with R&D programs in a timely manner.

? Write up trials, produce data sheets, and provide information for proposals and/or presentations.

? Participate in meetings and/or teleconferences to support R&D/Production.

? Take part in interpreting technical requirements for developing new fabrics.

? Participate in preparing samples for Marketing or Production.

? Prepare and consolidate inputs for program reporting.

? Review, analyze and interpret the technical requirements contained in requests for proposals, requests for quotation, information for bid, etc., to generate material used in preparation of formal responses.

? Review periodic technical and trade literature to identify potential R&D opportunities.

? Communicate project status on a regular basis to the Lifetex R&D Manager and the Program Managers of specific R&D projects.

? Set and maintain high standards for a product development philosophy throughout the conception, design, prototyping, evaluation, manufacturing, and operational evaluations.

? Travel as necessary to accomplish interfaces and results required/desired on R&D projects.
