** THIS IS A NIGHT SHIFT POSITION **
POSITION SUMMARY: Assigns motor vehicles and drivers for conveyance of freight of passengers.
ESSENTIAL DUTIES/RESPONSIBILITIES:
? Compiles list of available vehicles.
? Assigns vehicles according to factors such as length and purpose of trip, freight or passenger requirements, and preference of user.
? Issues keys, record sheets, and credentials to drivers.
? Records time of departure, destination, cargo, and expected time of return.
? Investigates overdue vehicles. Directs activities of drivers.
? Confers with customers to expedite or locate missing, misrouted, delayed, or damaged merchandise.
? Maintains record of mileage, fuel used, repairs made, and other expenses. Establishes service or delivery routes.
? Issues equipment to drivers such as hand trucks, dollies, and blankets.
? Assigns helpers to drivers.
? Make loads and dispatch drivers, conduct load audits and terminal inspections, and assist drivers in setting up loads.
? Ensure driver compliance such as timeliness of delivery, equipment availability, disciplinary issues.
QUALIFICATIONS:
? High school diploma or equivalent
? Excellent verbal and written communication skills
? Basic math. Must be able to count units and sign off invoices.
? Knowledge of shipping requirements (i.e., tie downs), local and national union agreements, and manpower levels
? Must have excellent reasoning ability.
? Stable work history with a strong work ethic
? Available to work overtime, weekends, holidays
