Director- Coal Car Maintenance

CITY: Chicago STATE: Illinois COUNTRY: USA Essential Functions (Responsibilities):
This position is responsible for the readiness and efficient maintenance of the railcar Coal Fleet throughout the North American Rail Network
Including:

* Development and execution of maintenance strategy for fleet of 17,000 Coal Cars
* Coordination of unit train shoppings with customers, repair shops and railroads while minimizing out of service time and freight costs
* Ownership of Coal Car maintenance cost including planning process
* Development of reports and metrics
* Participating in the development and negotiation of customer leasing agreements
* Oversee system development related to the maintenance management of Coal Cars
* Management of vendor relationships including:
o Forming Strategic Partnerships
o Implementing and administering Audit Programs
o Developing and maintaining vendor measurements
o Ensuring cost containment
o Negotiation of supplier contracts
* Assist in financial variance analysis of Coal Car maintenance expenses
* Manage end of lease return process as it pertains to maintenance and car condition
* Implement effective audit and payment processes for repair estimates and invoices
* Improve operating processes utilizing quality tools and methodology
* Ensure Coal Car fleet is operating in compliance with all AAR, FRA and other state and federal guidelines.
* Assist in the collection of lessee responsible re-billed charges.



Qualifications/Requirements:
* Bachelor's degree (or equivalent work experience: 4+ years performing directly related job functions.)
* 2+ years Management experience in railcar repair or a related transportation or manufacturing environment.
* Familiarity and experience working with Six Sigma Lean Quality tools and methodologies.
* Green Belt certified.
* Willingness to work in Chicago.
* Willingness to comply with pre-employment screening, including but not limited to drug testing, reference verification and background check.





Desired:
* Engineering degree preferred.
* Black Belt certified.
