Director of Sales

Description of Position: Manages sales activities of assigned region by performing the following duties personally or through subordinate supervisors; Develops and implements strategic sales plans to accommodate corporate goals, directs sales forecasting activities and sets performance goals accordingly, tracking, coaching, and auditing sales activities of each Account Manager, reviews market analyses to determine customer needs, price schedules, and discount rates, directs staffing, training, and performance evaluations to develop and control sales program, manages and directs the sales support staff to develop and control sales and business development programs including the creation of proposals, directs channel development activity and coordinates sales distribution, advises dealers, distributors, and clients concerning sales and advertising techniques, analyzes sales statistics to formulate policy and assist dealers in promoting sales, delivers sales presentations to key clients in coordination with account managers, analyzes and controls expenditures of division to conform to budgetary requirements, assists other departments within organization to prepare sales and marketing materials

Supervisory Responsibilities
Manages sales professionals of different levels and sales support staff within the Sales Department; Responsibilities may include interviewing, hiring, and training employees; planning, assigning, and directing work; appraising performance; rewarding and disciplining employees; addressing complaints and resolving problems.

 

Hiring Criteria:
Bachelor's degree (BA) from four-year college or university or equivalent is required. In addition, a minimum of three years of related sales management experience and/or training; or equivalent combination of education and experience is required.
Ability to read, analyze, and interpret requests for proposal, general business periodicals, professional journals, technical procedures, or governmental regulations
Ability to write reports, business correspondence, and procedure manuals
Ability to effectively present information and respond to questions from groups of managers, clients, customers, and the general public
Must be able to work evenings as needed and 1 weekend per month
