Driver - Danville DC

POSITION SUMMARY :     Responsible for driving Jack in the Box tractor-trailer truck to transport and deliver products to restaurants and distribution centers in accordance with established schedules, company procedures, and federal and state transportation laws. Provides excellent internal customer service to restaurant and warehouse personnel and represents the Company at all times in interactions with employees and customers in a courteous and positive manner.

 

 

 

KEY DUTIES/RESPONSIBILITIES:

 

Drives tractor-trailer to transport and deliver products to destinations on assigned route in compliance with Department of Transportation (D.O.T.) driving standards and regulations as well as abiding by all state and local laws. Completes necessary reports, logs, etc., as prescribed by the Department of Transportation; takes proactive measures to prevent accidents and incidents.

 

Secures loads and ensures loads are within weight limits; unloads truck using lift gate and electric pallet jack; verifies count and condition of products delivered reports shortages, and gives credit for returned products as required.

 

Cleans, fuels, and inspects truck for problems before and after trips; notifies management of any vehicle problems or defects. Takes ownership for keeping equipment in proper condition.

 

Maintains superior customer relations by delivering orders on time and acting in a friendly and courteous manner; manages time efficiently both at restaurant and on route; strives to improve delivery process and performance; and contributes to QA Audit scores of the DC by working to minimize the number of damaged goods and tipped pallets.

QUALIFICATIONS:

 

  Education - High School Diploma or GED required. Certification in equipment operation.

  Experience - 1-2 years truck driving experience.

  Skills/Knowledge/Abilities - Valid Commercial driver's license (Class A) required. Department of Transportation physical certification approval. Good English oral and written communication skills.

Physical Requirements ? Ability to endure, without undue discomfort, repeated exposure to extreme cold temperatures in refrigerator/freezer; ability to walk, stand, lift and carry products weighing 25-100 lbs. Requires vision correctable to 20/40 and must meet D.O.T. hearing requirements. Must pass annual drug test.
