Plan, direct, and coordinate the operations of the Mid-Atlantic Region composed of multiple terminals in several states with multi-million dollar revenues. Duties and responsibilities include managing the operational, sales, employee, financial, and technological initiatives within the region. The office is located at: 1200 Westinghouse Blvd., Charlotte, NC, 28273.

Responsibilities:
Operations-
? Implement key company initiatives throughout assigned region.
? Assist VP of Operations and Corporate in developing and implementing short and long range operational goals.
? Collaborate with corporate, other managers, and staff members in order to formulate and implement policies, procedures, goals, and objectives.
? Assist in the development and adherence to the Operations Manual, inform staff of operations manual updates, and keep a complete master available for managers as appropriate.
? Analyze organizational operating practices, methods, standards, or procedures to identify best practices and assist in their development and utilization throughout the organization.
? Maintain complete adherence to Chain of Custody (COC) by drivers and terminal staff. Regularly monitor COC procedures and implementation in the field, ensuring that COC reports and audits are completed and collected on a quarterly basis.
? Analyze operational or management reports or records to include OTP, service issues, P&L?s, and settlement.
? Direct and coordinate, through subordinates, activities of terminals in order to meet regional goals and objectives.
? Develop and implement management control systems to standardize the organization and practices of the terminals.
? Oversee ordering or purchasing of supplies, materials, furniture, or equipment for all terminals within the Region. Responsible for all equipment assigned in the region.
? Ensure that the policies and procedures as defined in the BeavEx Operations Manual and Employee Handbook are consistently followed.
? Other duties as assigned.
Finance-
? Develop budget or region; responsible to administer and monitor operational budget throughout region.
? Regulate spending and set specific financial goals and restrictions with Terminal Managers and/or District Managers, ensuring that expenses are consistent with approved budgets while simultaneously providing effective and efficient services to customers.
? Analyze expenditures and other financial information in order to develop plans, policies, and budgets for increasing profits and improving services.
? Review and approve expense reports of employees as appropriate.
? Review financial statements, sales and activity reports, and other performance data to measure productivity and goal achievement and to determine areas needing cost reduction and program improvement.
? Ensure new business is brought on within expected margins.
? Oversee monthly invoicing, specials (On Demand) billing, and new business pricing.
Personnel-
? Manage direct reports: Set performance goals & initiatives, discipline staff as appropriate, plan and organize work assignments, perform training and staff development.
? Responsible for staffing within the region; Coordinate with the Corporate Human Resources department to recruit, screen, interview, hire, discharge, transfer, or promote employees, and oversee those personnel processes.
? Train, monitor, and enforce company policies and procedures throughout the region.
? Evaluate performance of employees, handle the annual performance reviews, and manage salary administration.
? Use conflict resolution techniques to resolve personnel problems or grievances.
? Oversee investigation of work related accidents and/or injuries, to ensure completion of all required paperwork and communication with the corporate office.
? Ensure compliance with local, state, and federal labor laws.
Vendor / IC Relations-
? Ensure terminals develop and maintain relationships with Vendor/ICs.
? Foster a functional, professional, and positive environment between ICs, BeavEx, and the customer.
? Oversee Terminal and or District Managers as they manage contracts with Vendor/IC's including pricing/negotiations, sourcing, screening, terminating, etc.
? Participate in troubleshooting and resolving any outstanding Vendor/IC problems, issues, or grievances that rise to the GM level.
Sales and Account Management-
? Meet regularly with customers to determine service levels and needs.
? Provide excellent customer service by responding proactively to investigate and resolve customer inquiries and/or complaints.
? Manage relationships with Vendor/IC?s to ensure terminals are prepared to meet all customer requirements.
? Develop and maintain relationships with key contacts for each customer at local and regional level.
? Coordinate with Corporate Sales & Marketing Department on sales initiatives, sales forecasts, etc.
Technology-
? Ensure technology is utilized by all employees within region to the fullest extent possible, including all track & trace technology, CourierBase, Nextel's, scanners, palms, etc.
? Use electronic mail, telephones, mobile phones, and other communication tools effectively on a daily basis.
Compliance-
? Maintain terminal compliance by retaining documents and records in order to pass a company audit; comply with all DOT regulations (if applicable) and OSHA requirements.
? Promote safe work activities by conducting and/or attending company safety meetings. Oversee work progress to verify safety or conformance to standards.
? Implement TSA requirements (if applicable) by completing TSA Indirect Air Carrier Standard Security Program and becoming familiar with all TSA Known Shipper requirements.
Education, Experience, and Skills:
? Bachelor?s degree in business related field such as management, logistics, economics, etc.
? 10 + years management, customer service and/or related transportation experience, preferably in courier or transportation field
? Excellent verbal and written communication skills
? Computer skills including Microsoft Word, Outlook, Internet, & routing software
? Interpersonal, leadership, management, and communication skills; ability to effectively foster teamwork and motivate/coach others
? Strong analytical and organizational skills
? Excellent problem solving and troubleshooting skills
? Perform well and make optimum decisions under pressure and time constraints
? Knowledge of local and regional geographical area
? Knowledge of principles and processes for providing customer service
? Knowledge of business and management principles
Travel Requirement:
50% to 60% of time as required, domestic travel is mostly within assigned region and on occasion to the corporate office.
Work Environment:
Office and Warehouse, some exposure to hot and/or cold weather.
