General Manager - Transportation

We currently have an opening for a General Manager, Transportation, who will be based in Canton, MI. This position has overall responsibility for managing and controlling multi-market, multi-business lines? transportation to provide the most secure, safe, reliable transportation of our customer?s information. This service will be provided in the most efficient manner practicable through optimization programs and partnerships with transportation engineering, vehicle maintenance support, recruitment strategies, work place practices, and other field operating groups.
The major responsibilities for this position include:Provide secure, safe, reliable transportation service.Manage all members (Couriers, Mobile Shred Operators, Transportation Managers, and Transportation Supervisors) of the transportation departments across all business lines.Ensure prompt and accurate delivery/pick-up of all service requests for customers.Develop effective working partnerships with operations, customer service and account management. Develop strong internal and external business partnerships.Manage and measure department performance.Consistently meet and/or exceed customer expectations.Be accountable for the overall performance of the transportation function. Manage compliance to corporate programs. Recommend solutions and changes for improving the market?s financial performance and service levels within transportation.Ensure compliance with Federal, State and local laws and Iron Mountain policies and procedures.Understand and manage to DOT requirements.Ensure vehicles and equipment meets or exceeds Iron Mountain standards.Conduct random inspections of the vehicles to ensure they are properly maintained and secure.Manage driver safety program.Research and resolve transportation issues; communicate resolution to customers.
A Bachelors Degree with a high GPA with a business related focus is required. This position requires five or more years of management experience in a service industry (transportation preferred) or military environment (commissioned officer, logistics preferred). MBA preferred.
Additional requirements include basic management skills in diversity and change management, customer service, delegation, team building and the capacity to ensure high quality output.
You must be proficient with MS Office and comfortable with other technology, as well as possess strong communication, interpersonal, presentation, analytical, time management and project management skills. You must have the ability to interface with all levels of Iron Mountain employees and our client?s management.
Travel requirements are approximately up to 25% overnight travel.
A valid driver?s license with a clean driving record and the ability to pass a pre-employment substance abuse screening and background check is also required.
