Import Export Manager

Ormco is currently looking for an Import Export Manager at it's Distribution site in San Dimas.

 

 

In this position, the successful candidate will be responsible for:

 

 

Representing the company to CBP. Responds to CBP requests for information regarding import transactions. -Establishes and implements company-wide formal import-export and transportation policies, procedures, and controls. -Updates customs compliance manual as needed. -Performs periodic audits to evaluate compliance levels and effectiveness of procedures, policies, and controls. -Identifies opportunities to secure duty and freight refunds and take advantage of duty and freight saving programs. -Educates various departments on customs compliance through presentations, procedures, memos, and conversations. Works with various functional areas to facilitate customs compliance. -Manages Material Customs Specialist and two (2) Maquila coordinators. -Identifies and recommends opportunities for continuously improving import-export and logistics processes. -Identifies and evaluates opportunities for improving the effectiveness of the logistics group by researching transportation alternatives for raw materials and finished product. -Continuously assesses the overall synergy and functionality of the transportation network Ormco uses to move its raw materials and finished products. -Monitors regulatory and international changes impacting import-export and transportation. Interprets regulations, applies them to daily transactions, and uses written and verbal communication to convey changes to the organization. -Researches freight rates for all import (and large domestic) shipments. -Works with Purchasing and Import-Export to determine best methods and rates for in-bound international shipments. -Maintains relationships with external customs counsel, customs brokers, and transportation providers. -Assists in negotiating rate and service contracts with transportation providers. -Maintains copies of rate and service contracts with customs brokers, freight forwarders, couriers, and other transportation providers. -Works closely with other SDS companies to share knowledge and experiences and leverage purchasing power. -Audits freight bills from carriers and freight forwarders to monitor compliance with existing rate contracts. Manages accessorial charges and resolves discrepancies. -Periodically evaluates performance of transportation partners, seeking feedback from other departments. -Insures any shipments not covered by SDS?s ?self-insurance? policy. -Tracks freight costs and provides reports to management. Assists Finance in calculating transportation percentage to be allocated to product standard cost. -Assists Distribution Manager in budgeting for transportation costs by providing data. -Some travel to Ormco?s maquiladoras in Mexico may be required.

This key position will require: Four-year degree required. Customs broker license required.

Experience: Must have eight to ten years of experience at a courier, freight forwarder, 3PL, medium to large importer/exporter, or combination and analytical experience in a financial/logistics environment.

Skills: Must have excellent communication skills (verbal and written). Must be able to communicate professionally and effectively with many levels of the corporation as well as individuals outside the corporation at various levels.
