International Transportation Manager - 3rd Shift

Centroid Group, a premier provider of logistics management and consulting services, has an opening for a 3rd-shift International Transportation Manager. This position will be located our offices in Walled Lake, MI.

 

The International Transportation Manager will be responsible for assisting in the development and planning of a comprehensive inbound material flow strategy for the client including transportation, inventory control, customs clearance and customs brokerage activities. This position will also be responsible for the operational execution of the plan including managing daily transportation operations, auditing and authorizing carrier freight bills, routing expedite shipments and creating standardized and ad-hoc reports. The International Transportation Manager will be in charge of implementing and achieving annual cost savings initiatives as well.

 

This position requires experience in transportation and logistics with a record of increasing responsibility. Experience should include operational transportation management; negotiation with steamship lines, freight forwarders & intermodal carriers; and freight/customs bill audit & payment.  Experience with United States Customs clearance procedures and knowledge of HTS classifications for imported automotive products is required.  Strong knowledge of country specific export requirements (i.e. fumigation, pallets, packaging and documentation) is also required.  Additionally, the position requires a solid understanding of MRP concepts. Applicant should possess strong analytical abilities and detailed knowledge of MS Office (Word, Excel, and Access). Strong oral and written communication skills are required to effectively interact with the client?s management group. A Bachelors degree in transportation, logistics or related field or equivalent experience is preferred.
