Education/Licensure/Certification: Bachelors degree, or equivalent experience, in business administration, finance, operations research, materiels management, economics or related field. Masters degree preferred.


Qualifications: Substantial experience (usually 7+ years) in combination of cost/benefit analysis, statistical analysis, materials management, finance, logistics, health care delivery or other related areas. Previous management experience leading multi disciplinary teams. Significant Knowledge of a wide variety of medical and non medical products and services. Proficient in a variety of word processing and spreadsheet applications, including automated inventory management systems. Strong communication, presentation, project management and negotiation skills. Ability to analyze problem situations, make recommendations and implement solutions. Must be able to work in a Labor/Management Partnership environment.


Duties: Leads a team of professionals and support staff in promoting the appropriate, cost effective utilization of national/regional product standards. Achieves compliance with standards by implementing products, educating users and monitoring utilization. Will significant accountability for cost reduction and supply cost savings in the region.Establishes objectives and manages the activities of the product support staff. Provides work direction and guidance including coaching, professional development and training. Conducts ongoing review, analysis and reporting of product utilization statistics determining the appropriate actions/interventions for low or poor compliant products and areas. Creates a program of information and education for managers/product users throughout the Northern California Region on standards programs, products selection and expected compliance. Motivates professional staff and managers to actively manage compliance with standards. Provides product support implementation and utilization support for goods and services established as national or regional standards. Develops plans for introduction of new standard products into use, and manages start up problems/issues. Assists customers in applying for requests for deviations from standards. Manages evaluation of requests. Provides education to users. Consistently supports compliance and the Principles of Responsibility (Kaiser Permanente's Code of Conduct) by maintaining the privacy and confidentiality of information, protecting the assets of the organization, acting with ethics and integrity, reporting non compliance, and adhering to applicable federal, state and local laws and regulations, accreditation and licenser requirements (if applicable), and Kaiser Permanente's policies and procedures.
