Ocean Manager

Summary Directs and coordinates activities of employees engaged in ocean export and Import operations and ensures profitability by performing the following duties personally or through subordinate supervisors

Key Accountabilities
Oversee timely and accurate movement of ocean export and Import shipments, both forwarding and NVOCC.
Ensure all country regulations and requirements are met.
Ensure all company policies are implemented and enforced.
Ensure employees comply with rate and service requirements established by customers.
Ensure established margins and budgetary target are met.
Meet company standards on matters related to accounts receivables.
Assign specific duties to supervisors and staff as required.
Ensure all employees are fully trained in all aspects of their job as well as cross-trained in other areas when possible.
Assist employee in the sea freight department with any questions or situations that arise with shipments, customers requests, vendors
Assist sales force as needed, both on sales calls, and with reports and required information.
Prepare weekly /monthly activity / revenue reports.
Prepare and provide customers and overseas office with rate quotations. Update customer maintenance with rates and SOP's.
Maintain employee records and completes yearly employee performance reviews
Liaison with all related vendors to ensure highest level of service is achieved
Assist and answer customer inquires and other related customer service functions.
Ensure continuous improvement processes to increase efficiencies, reduces waste and improve performance to our customers.
Skills
? Working knowledge of Logis Ocean both Import / Export
? Expert knowledge of seafreight operations. Forwarding and NVOCC, gateway operations. Imports and Exports
? Highly developed interpersonal and leadership skills.
? PC software Application skills (Excel, Word, Notes)
? Knowledge of US Export Regulations
? Knowledge of US Import Regulations
? Understanding of ports and world geography
? Excellent customer service skills
? Knowledge of various ocean carriers
? Knowledge of Letters of Credit
? Knowledge of Profit and Loss statements
? Assist as needed in budgeting process

Experience (indicate depth & breadth)
4-year degree or equivalent from accredited college
4-6 years related experience and/or training; or equivalent combination of education and experience.
