P & D Local Area Shuttle Driver

Principal Duties:

This driving position, with a starting pay rate of $16.51 per hour, is a combination of local Pickup and Delivery as well as local area shuttle. Drivers obtain their daily assignments and inspect their loads and the equipment prior to leaving the facility. P&D-Shuttle Drivers operate commercial motor vehicles in urban, suburban, and rural areas in all weather conditions to pickup and deliver freight. The pickup and delivery of freight requires the loading and unloading of freight in varying conditions at both Company and customer facilities utilizing the same techniques and procedures as a dock worker. P&D-Shuttle Drivers improve and update their professional skills on an ongoing basis.

 

Minimum Requirements:

Pickup-Delivery-Local Area Shuttle Drivers must have a current, valid CDL, Class A with endorsements for doubles and hazardous materials handling and must meet all other requirements specified by Federal Motor Carrier Regulations. A minimum of one-year verifiable driving experience or graduation from a state accredited driving program and a satisfactory record of prior employment. There must be no record of license suspension or revocation as a result of a conviction while operating a motor vehicle. P&D-Shuttle Drivers must read, write and converse in English sufficiently to comprehend and follow safety rules, to communicate with the general public and respond to official inquiries, to make entries on reports/records, and to understand highway traffic signs and signals. P&D-Shuttle Drivers must pass a physical ability test, DOT physical examination, and drug screen.

 

Preferred Requirements:

A high school diploma or an equivalent is preferred for driver applicants. Two years driving experience in all weather conditions. Awards for safe driving.
