Pioneer Dozer/Blade Operator, Reclamation

Job Description

Major Responsibilities:

This position is responsible for safely and proficiently operating track dozers (D4-D11 class) and road graders (14-16 class) in rugged terrain performing pioneer-type work and capable of maintaining grade control within very tight tolerances. This position must also safely and efficiently operate front-end loaders (966-992 class), excavators, backhoes, skid-steer loaders and scrapers for the purpose of moving earth, boulders, rock and brush during the reclamation process. Responsibilities also include performing minor repairs on equipment and performing any and all work required to maintain the efficient conduct of the operation. Successful candidates must maintain regular attendance on any and all shifts assigned and actively participate in a team-based management system.

Minimum Requirements:

- Must be willing to accept numerous temporary assignments to various rural reclamation locations throughout Arizona.
-Travel anticipated at 75 to 100%.
- Demonstrated communication and interpersonal skills.
- Skilled in following safety practices and recognizing and eliminating hazards.
- Demonstrated effective past work performance, including no active safety, attendance or counseling (disciplinary) issues.
- Ability to utilize all required PPE
- Physical ability and willingness to work in a 24/7/365 operation
- Must be able to read, comprehend and apply verbal and written instructions and procedures
- Ability to demonstrate that safety is a core value
- Ability to maneuver equipment safely in adverse conditions

Preferred Qualifications:

- Experience with GPS and/or CAES

Criteria/Conditions(specific background and skills):

- Must be able to demonstrate initial and continued safe and proficient operation of track dozers (D4-D11 class) and road graders (14-16 class) in rugged terrain performing pioneer-type work and capable of maintaining grade control within very tight tolerances.
- Work is performed in environments which may include exposure to extremes in temperature and humidity, moving mechanical parts, risk of electrical shock, toxic chemicals, explosives, fumes or airborne particles.
- While performing the duties of this job, the employee is regularly required to stand, sit, demonstrate manual dexterity, climb stairs and ladders, work on elevated platforms, talk, hear and see.
- Availability to be on-call regularly.
- Occasionally may be required to lift moderately heavy to heavy objects (up to 50 pounds) during the course of the workday.
- Personal protective equipment is required on a regular basis, including hard hat, hearing protection, safety glasses, safety footwear, and as needed, respirator, rubber steel-toe boots, protective clothing, gloves and other protective equipment as required.
- Possess the manual dexterity and hand/eye coordination to manipulate and coordinate controls.
- Ability to safely and effectively operate mobile equipment while being exposed to jarring movement during loading, dumping, and hauling.
