Rail Analyst Ferrell North America

Ferrellgas is the second largest propane company in the United States and third largest propane company in the world. Our annual revenues also rank us among the top 10 companies in the Kansas City area. We are seeking a Rail Analyst at our Overland Park, KS location.

 

Job Summary:

Under general direction, this position schedules the distribution of propane by rail transportation to designated locations across the United States. The incumbent is responsible for managing supply contracts for the maximum performance and profitability.  This position is responsible for preparing supply forecasts and negotiating freight rates.  Typically requires a Bachelor?s level degree in a related field, 2-3 years customer service experience and 1-2 years transportation scheduling experience.

 

Essential Functions:

?  Distributes propane to markets.

?  Coordinates rail transportation companies with needs of market managers.

?  Manages supply contracts for maximum performance and profitability.

?  Forecasts supply needs for markets.

?  Utilizes rail fleet for optimum profitability.

?  Negotiates freight rates and acts as liaison with market billing department.

?  Develops solid relationships with suppliers and external railroad representatives.

?  Provides guidance to coordinator assistants.

?  Provides technical support to markets.

 

Experience:

?  Bachelor?s degree in a related field

?  2-3 years customer service experience

?  1-2 years transportaion scheduling experience, rail car experience preferred

?  Excellent interpersonal, communication, analytical and organizational skills

?  Excellent Microsoft Office skills including Excel, Word, PowerPoint, etc.

?  Excellent persuasive skills
