Position: Safety Clerk

 

Location: DeSoto, Texas

 

General Summary

 

The nature of this job requires an individual who is very detail oriented, has strong data entry skills and has good communication skills and is able to handle multiple tasks with time restrictions.  This individual will be involved in assisting and communicating with owner/operators, Driver, vendors, agents, and other departments within Pacer Transport.  Must be able to work well under pressure and in a fast paced environment.

 Principal Duties and Responsibilities

 

Primary Duties:

 

1. Responsible for daily driver log input.

 

2. Talk with drivers on a monthly basis regarding hours of service, training log review and general questions.

 

3. Responsible for all driver, owner/operator and unit cancellation application process that includes data entry for applications of USIS, Rair Technologies and Acadian Health Services.

 

4. Call drivers, owner/operators and maintain spreadsheets concerning, new driver (15 day callback), roadside inspections, citations; expiration letters for, annual inspections, MVR?s, Drivers License, annual physical cards and monthly truck maintenance.

 

5. Assisting with the process of Nextel orders, cancellations and billing.

 

6. Scanning and filing of safety documents as needed.

 

7. Responsible for all previous employment information requests by other companies for drivers and owner/operators.

 

8. Responsible for quarterly mass mail outs to drivers, owner/operators and agents.

 

9. Answer incoming calls to the safety department with assistance and place outgoing calls to vendors, drivers and agents.

 

10. Other duties assigned by the Manager of Safety.

 

 

 

Job Specifications

 

1. Knowledge of safety procedures in the transportation industry is preferred. 

 

2. Works under direct supervision.

 

3. Strong data entry skills both numeric and alphabetical.  In addition, speed and accuracy are also important skills.

 

4. Interpersonal skills necessary to communicate (verbally and intuitively) effectively with both customers and co-workers. 

 

5. Must be computer literate and have basic to intermediate working knowledge of Microsoft Office Suite programs. In addition, working knowledge of an e-mail system is necessary.

 

6. Working knowledge (comprehension) of Spanish or any other language that may be relevant to the operation and/or location is a plus.

 

7. 0 to 3 years general clerical experience required.

 

8. Telecom/cellular experience preferred but not required.

 

9. Familiarity of U.S DOT FMCS regulations would be preferred but not required.

 

10. High School diploma or equivalent required.  Associates degree preferred but not required.
