Position Description:

Scholastic Book Fairs works with schools across the country to host more than 120,000 annual reading events, connecting more than 55 million children with great books each year. Book Fairs foster enthusiasm for reading, while helping to build school and classroom libraries by providing students, teachers and parents access to thousands of books and educational products at affordable prices.

We are looking for a Shift Supervisor to:
Independently manage associates and the operation of an additional shift.
Responsible for closing out fairs, ensuring all cases, displays, and boxes are staged with the book fair properly labeled.
May prepare daily packing schedules by reviewing turnovers, checking labels, and communicating specifics on packing instructions.
Assist in the picking and packing of re-orders, ensuring a timely response.
Oversee Fair packing production or replenishment of stock from bulk to shelves as well as the unloading of trucks and cases.
Oversee packing and display of product in accordance with schematics, to ensure customer requests and needs are satisfied; including, but not limited to, matching loading procedures to warehouse/driver sheets. Reset picking lines to coordinate with corporate schematics, on a seasonal basis.
Monitor inventory levels and inform management of status, avoiding out-of-stock situations. Assist with physical inventory counts, open houses and warehouse sales.
Monitor sell rate of product to reduce out of stock shortages and recommend supplemental title replacements.
Ensure timely feedback and communication to management and warehouse staff.
Train staff on and maintain use of the Scanners for the Book Fairs inventory system.
Ensure that all warehouse equipment/tools are properly utilized to increase productivity, efficiency, safety, and report any unsafe conditions/equipment or injury.
Fill Accurate Data on Labor Data Collection Cards.
Responsible for the careful handling of all merchandise, avoiding damage, bending or tearing and report problems to Warehouse Supervisor.
Use and monitor proper techniques for lifting, packing, handling heavy objects, climbing ladders, and pushing/pulling cases.
May operate forklifts during peak business periods (If certified ? must be at least 18 years of age).
Maintain a clean, safe, and productive environment.
Protect company assets, to ensure they meet Scholastic standards and report any unauthorized incidents, damages, or shortages to the Branch Manager.
Other duties as assigned.

Qualifications:

High School Diploma or GED Certificate preferred.
Minimum of 1 year of experience in a supervisory role.
Ability to analyze, develop, initiate, and implement plans and strategies to achieve goals.
Strong computer skills; ability to navigate through the internet, MS Office, and email preferred.
Ability to utilize scanner systems effectively with minimal errors.
Good interpersonal skills with the ability to lead and direct associates.
Ability to prioritize and meet critical deadlines.
Ability to lift/carry 50 lbs., push/pull up to 300 lbs., climbs ladders without assistance. Reasonable accommodations may be made to enable individuals with disabilities to perform the essential functions.
Ability to work over-time and weekends as needed.
Strong team player and the ability to get along with co-workers.
Good verbal/written communication skills, basic math skills, and ability to read.
Forklift experience a plus.
Valid drivers license & acceptable motor vehicle report. (If operating company vehicle ?motor vehicle record check and drug screening)
