Job Title

This position sources carriers and negotiates the best possible rates with truckload (both van and flatbed) carriers, dedicated fleets, and intermodal providers, including meeting with carriers as needed and communicating with them via telephone, e-mail, and/or fax to discuss service, rate, or capacity opportunities.

This position inputs carrier rates in Manugistics and audits rates as needed.

This position reviews dedicated fleet operations to ensure that cost and service goals are being achieved and administers bids as needed.
Major Activities of the Position:

1. Inputs carrier rates timely and accurately into Manugistics.
2. Effectively negotiates rates with truckload and intermodal carriers.
3. Effectively sources truckload and intermodal carriers.
4. Ensures adequate carrier roster to support the company?s service, capacity, and rate expectations.
5. Administers and maintains contracts with truckload and intermodal carriers.
6. Audits carrier rates to ensure proper billing and accuracy.
7. Support Corporate Transportation Manager and Senior Truckload Analyst in meetings with existing and prospective carriers.
8. Supports internal areas with cost studies and recommendations.
9. Maintains updates truckload and intermodal carrier list.
10. Maintains certificate of insurance for truckload and intermodal carriers.
11. Assist with annual carrier meeting as needed.
12. Performs duties with a high degree of accuracy as assigned to support departmental function.
This position negotiates and maintains contracts with our carriers and ensures that adequate insurance coverage and safety ratings are maintained.

This position also provides support to other areas, including but not limited to: DC cost studies, spreadsheet analysis, and related tasks as assigned.

Must be able to communicate with carriers both verbally and in writing on a daily basis.
Must be able to enter rates into Manugistics.
Must be able to effectively negotiate with truckload and intermodal carriers.
Must be able to read computer screen and printed reports.
Must be able to analyze rates and perform cost studies.
Must be able to effectively audit rates.
Must be able to lead carrier meetings and develop action plans.
1. Computer: familiarity with a wide range of programs, including but not limited to:
a. Manugistics
b. Word-processing (MS Word)
c. Spreadsheet (MS Excel)
d. Database (MS Access)
e. E-Mail and Scheduling (MS Outlook)
2. Education: 4-year Bachelors degree in Logistics or Transportation preferred, as well as at least 3 years of related professional experience.
3. Strong ability to prioritize multiple tasks.
4. Strong verbal and written communication skills.
5. Very strong organizational and time-management skills.
6. Ability to work quickly and accurately.
7. Display positive and pleasant demeanor.
8. Strong interpersonal skills.
9. Reliable in terms of meeting schedules and deadlines.
