GENERAL SCOPE OF JOB:

Responsible for general over-the-road truck and trailer repair, fleet preventive maintenance and truck systems diagnostics working as part of a team in a results-oriented, fast-paced work environment. 

 

DUTIES AND RESPONSIBILITIES: 

General heavy truck repair for commercial fleet operations, including trailer repair, diesel engine system diagnostics and preventive maintenance.

 

Diagnose the reason for the equipment failure on various truck and trailer configurations in a shop environment or out in the field working out of a service repair truck.

 

Read repair orders and perform necessary tasks to successfully complete the repair of the vehicle or trailer.  Update the computer system with the status of the repair order.

 

QUALIFICATIONS REQUIRED:

2 plus years experience in general heavy truck repair for commercial fleet operations, including trailer repair, diesel engine system diagnostics and preventive maintenance with the following systems and equipment: Cummins and Detroit engines, Meritor and Eaton drive lines, Freightliner, Peterbuilt and Volvo trucks.

 

The ability to diagnose and repair equipment using information provided by the service writer in the form of a repair order using hand and power assisted tools.

 

Must have wiring and electronic experience along with basic fabrication skills.

 

Experienced with the use and applications of welders and gas torch systems.

 

CDL License and/or experience in operating Class 8 vehicles preferred.

 

Possess computer experience: keyboarding ability is essential as is the ability to efficiently operate in a computerized environment. 

 

Must be a well-organized self-starter with good written and verbal communications skills and a positive attitude who takes pride in delivering quality work.

 

Employment is contingent upon successfully passing the mandated Department of Transportation physical exam and a clean drug screen.

 

Trade school graduation and experience with computers a plus but not required.

 

Refrigerated systems experience a plus.
