Shipping & Receiving Clerk

Growing Indianapolis based packaging and fulliment company has opening for shipping and receiving clerk. Successful applicants will be team-oriented, have attention to detail, good communication skills, and be able to handle multiple activities.

Summary: Verifies and keeps records of incoming and outgoing shipments and prepares items for shipment by performing the following duties:

* Compares identifying information and counts, weighs, or measures items of incoming and outgoing shipments to verify information against bills of lading, invoices, orders, or other records.
* Affixes shipping labels on packed cartons.
* Posts weights and shipping charges.
* Examines incoming shipments, rejects damaged items, records shortages.
* Examines outgoing shipments to ensure shipments meet specifications.
* Studies shipping notices, bills of lading, invoices, orders, and other records to determine shipping priorities, work assignments, and shipping methods required to meet shipping and receiving schedules.
* Oversees incoming and outgoing shipping activities to ensure accuracy, completeness, and condition of shipments.
* Determines space requirements and position of shipment in trucks and lays out position of shipment.
* Inspects loading operations to ensure compliance with shipping specifications, and seals loaded boxcars and truck doors.
* Directs movement of shipments from shipping and receiving platform to storage and work areas.
* Prepares bills of lading.
* Issues written and oral instructions.
* Prepares reports.
* Adjusts errors and complaints.

 

Qualifications:

* High School diploma or GED required, Associate's degree preferred
* Minimum 1 year experience in shipping/receiving
* Ability to type 40 WPM
* Computer proficiency
* Ability to work in warehouse environment
* Ability to stand for long periods, reach, bend, and lift
* Ability to use pallet jack
* Ability to read, understand, and follow written procedures
* Ability to perform basic math
* Good communication skills
* Sense of urgency
* Attention to detail.
