Shipping & Receiving Supervisor

Purpose: Perform functions to direct, supervise and assist the storage and filling of orders and the preparation, loading, and shipping of company products.

 

Duties & Responsibilities:

Plan, lay out work, assign, instruct, direct and assist employees in the department, involving full accountability for results in terms of costs, methods, quality and quantity of production and personnel.

Receive and direct the movement and storage of finished products, parts and accessories. 

Determine the allocation of space according to availability, shipping schedule and ease of accessability.

Review specific shipping priority schedules, arrange for materials and equipment and assign work according to capabilities of employees.

Direct the preparation and maintenance of documentation and records and the picking and preparation of shipments, contact and schedule established carriers and direct loading operations.

Schedule company over the road truck drivers to pick up and deliver, determine routing to avoid excessive travel and recommend the distribution of loads.

Maintain adequate supply inventory and prepare requisitions as necessary.

Check condition of equipment and arrange for maintenance according to schedules or as required by conditions.

Prepare and maintain various reports, such as attendance, allocation of labor hours or individual and department performance reports.

Estimate and recommend work force, equipment and facility requirements.

Assist in the preparation of adherence to short and long term objectives and budgets, explaining variance from plan.

Responsible to interview, hire and train personnel, review and explain work.  Explain and enforce company rules and regulations, maintain discipline, handle employee complaints and maintain harmonious employee relations.  Maintain equipment, keep work area clean and orderly and eliminate safety hazards.  Appraise performance and make recommendations regarding changes in employee status.
