Supervisor, Distribution - 100398 - Sylmar, CA - 0300

Job Description: Primary Function: Supervises Distribution and Materials Employees assigned to various tasks related to material handling, shipping, receiving, picking/packing, cycle counting, Returns processing, equipment and storage environment maintenance, and may include one or several Distribution Centers. Oversees and supervises functional, Systems, and Regulatory training and performance requirements.

Duties: 1. Ensures compliance to the corporate safety and regulatory training program for materials and distribution employees, including right to know, personal protective equipment, safety orientation, and all other OSHA-mandated topics by interfacing with Director Environmental Health and Safety. 2. Supervises regulatory affairs issues relating to the distribution and materials functions, including (hazardous Training, Right-to-Know, FDA compliance, and Powered Industrial Truck training. Assists with maintenance of training files for all distribution personnel. 3. Tracks compliance with FDA and Company mandated training, including HAZMAT and reasonable suspicion drug and alcohol testing and provides training for all applicable employees. 4. Provides support, training and general assistance to distribution personnel for the Operating system by reviewing operations and compliance with company logistics processes. Defines system upgrades and manages implementation of customizations. Serves as liaison with Customer Service and other departments for the distribution function. 5. Performs internal distribution and materials operational audits results and works with Senior Manager and other Departmental Supervisors to recommend, train, implement, and monitor, corrective actions where needed. Provides analytical support to distribution sand materials management and staff members in the area of distribution center productivity, quality, inventory accuracy, facility/capacity utilization and distribution planning. Maintains various databases, process flow charts and maps. 6. Reviews monthly distribution performance reports. Makes recommendations regarding performance improvements. Evaluates potential new measurements. Provides additional data to Supervisory and Sr. Manager personnel upon request. 8. Supervises the processing and routing of Returned Goods from foreign and domestic Customers and Sales personnel monitoring Regulatory and Company policy compliance. 9. Supervises the performance management process by ensuring performance reviews are completed and delivered, and makes recommendations to staffing levels, training needs and additional resources need for the department. 10. Demonstrates and promotes behaviors consistent with the Company's Quality Policy, Vision, Mission, and Values in all interactions with customers, co-workers and suppliers. 11. Complies with all company policies, procedures and safety standards.

Specialized Knowledge and Skills: 1. Familiarity with FDA, EPA, OSHA and DOT requirements. Familiarity with regulations involving shipment of medical instrumentation and products. 2. Knowledge of ERP and WMS systems. 3. Intermediate computer skills including MS Word, Excel, Access and PDA knowledge. 4. Demonstrated business writing skills. 7. Demonstrated Functional and Quality Training skills and experience.

Experience: Required to reach with hands and arms. Prolonged periods of standing. Occasionally required to climb or balance and stoop, kneel, crouch or crawl. Ability to lift and/or move up to 75 pounds.

Education and Training: 1. Bachelor's degree in Supply Chain, Logistics or Business preferred. Progressive experience may be substituted for education. 2. Three to five years experience in Logistics/Distribution.
