TRANSPORTATION SUPERVISOR/TAMPA

Basic Function of the Job:

 

Manage and control the transportation department in the areas of efficient and responsive customer service, fleet and route management, dispatch and coordination of on-call emergency program, as well as, other special projects requiring transportation.  Direct and develop employees to ensure processes are followed, customers are serviced in a timely & accurate manner and company goals are met.

 

Scope of Job:

 

- Responsible for daily supervision of employees in transportation

 

- Fleet management of vehicles

 

- Responsible for the timely and accurate delivery & pick-up for a customer base of  customers

 

Work Performed:

 

- Overall supervision for the transportation area including employee relations, salary administration, training & development and consistent policy administration and development.  Counsel, train and guide employees in order to achieve budget goals and deliver high levels of customer service.

 

- Assure prompt completion of routine service requests by customers.  Utilize Safekeeper for manifesting and routing and for ensuring timely and accurate delivery/pick-up of customer material.  Work with customer to research and resolve transportation problems/issues.  Research and resolve discrepancies relating to transportation. 



- Interface and coordinate with other staff members relative to new account pick-up, customer service standards, special requests, etc. 

 

  -Research and recommend improved routing changes, vehicle specifications and maintenance programs, operational procedures and courier training.  Conduct random inspections of vehicles to ensure they are properly maintained and secure.

 

  -Insure proper maintenance procedures are performed on vehicles.  Review current procedures for quality and cost effectiveness.

 

  -  Management of driver safety program.

 

- Perform other duties and special projects as assigned.
